Sophia Khan (born 1985) is a Pakistani-American novelist. She is the author of Dear Yasmeen which was shortlisted for the Shakti Bhatt First Book Prize and the Karachi Literature Festival Getz Pharma Fiction Prize. Life Sophia Khan was born in Islamabad in 1985 to an American mother and a Pakistani father. She grew up between Pakistan and the United States and currently resides in Islamabad. Khan graduated from Haverford College in 2008. Shortly thereafter, she began work on her first novel, 'Dear Yasmeen.' She received an M.F.A from Sarah Lawrence College in 2011. Career Sophia Khan's first novel was first published as 'Yasmeen' by HarperCollins India in 2015 to positive reviews. Asian Age called it 'a shattering and uplifting tale of obsessive love, family ties and a desperate search for closure.' Khan's short story, 'Aabirah', was shortlisted for the Commonwealth Short Story in 2016.
