The first child of Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, a son, was born on 6 May 2019. He is seventh in line of succession to the British throne.
Birth
The first child of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, a son, was born at 05:26 BST (04:26 UTC) on 6 May 2019. The father described the birth as "a bit overdue". The place of birth has not been revealed. The media speculate that the child was born either at Frogmore Cottage, the couple's home, or at a London hospital. The child's name was not announced upon birth. His surname is expected to be Mountbatten-Windsor.
He is the first half-American and multiracial baby in the history of British monarchy, and his birth was anticipated by many black British people. He is eligible to apply for American citizenship, though such dual nationality is not automatic.
Title and succession
A great-grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II, The newborn would thus be known as Earl of Dumbarton, being entitled to use one of his father's subsidiary titles as a courtesy title. Should his paternal grandfather become king, he will be entitled to the style of Royal Highness.
