SoftwareFreedomKosovo

SoftwareFreedomKosovo is a free software expo founded by James Michael DuPont with an emphasis on Linux (but also BSD), held every summer in Kosovo. It is relatively small, and will occur in for the first time in August 29, 2009 and August 30, 2009.
The topics of the conference are free software, open source, VOIP, and Wikimedia. Speakers include representatives of Sun Microsystems, Mozilla, Pilot Systems, and Google Summer of Code, among others.
The conference is organised as an open conference.
Relevance
The SFK09 is the first international conference to be held in Kosovo to promote free software open source and open knowledge. It has gotten support from the University of Prishtina and from the government. It is a significant event for Kosovo and the region.
Also, for the preparation of the conference, a local organization for the promotion of free libre open source software has been formed, flossk.org.
