Slimband is the brand name of a laparoscopic band and it is also the name of Canada’s leading weight loss surgery center.
The Company
Slimband is a privately held company founded in 2003, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. They specialize in reversible laparoscopic band surgery and support, under the name SlimBand. They have 40 employees.
60% of the company’s support team are former weight loss surgery patients themselves.
More than 3,500 patients have successfully undergone the Slimband procedure.
Facility
Slimband operates a state-of-the-art surgical facility at the Prince Arthur Medical Clinic, located in downtown Toronto. The Medical Director is Dr. Patrick Yau, who has performed over 3500 gastric banding procedures and is Canada’s leading specialist in laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Jamie Cyriac is the clinic’s bariatric surgery specialist.
Support Program
The company offers a 4-year aftercare program that includes extensive patient support, nutritional counseling from certified dietitians, coaching, fitness programs, fill adjustments and doctor visits. The program offers in-person, group and telephone support.
Community Support Forum
Included in the support program is an online forum with a large user community and social networking.
