The Slainey Mace is the award, originally donated by Flt. Lt. Slainey to the Air Training Corps. It is a brown wooden mace, with a silver head engraved with, "The Slainey Mace" which is awarded to the Best Drum Major in the Corps for the period of a year for him/her to use at the National Marching Band Competitions at RAF Halton. Notably, it has been won in both 2007 and 2008 by Sgt. Ethan Spibey from 1036 (Bury) Squadron, an achievement no other Drum Major in the Air Training Corps has ever achieved before, making him the best Drum Major the ATC has ever seen!
