Skeleton Staff are an animated band and art-pop ensemble currently based in Sydney Australia. This band began in 2007 and are represented by four cartoon characters as their members. This band has released two albums and maintain an online presence via a semi-weekly comic strip. The real identities of the people behind this project are currently unknown, and some have speculated that both the music and the cartoons are the work of one person. Skeleton Staff have established the virtual band tradition in the sub-genre of powerpop where they are listed as having some of the best releases of the given year in publications such as the book Power Pop Prime Vol. 9 , and have been distributed by powerpop labels including Not Lame Recording Company and Power Pop Academy . Skeleton Staff have also been featured on the premiere powerpop complilation International Pop Overthrow - Volume 14. . Longstanding critics of the powerpop genre and general music alike have acclaimed the records , such as Powerpopaholic which rated Skeleton Staff's first album Solipsism an 8/10 and their second album Psychomorphism a 9/10 and also placed it at the #11 spot on their Top 25 Best Power Pop Albums for 2011 list.
