Sir John Threston

Sir John Threston was a member of the noble Threston family in England during the 1500s when Henry VIII was king. Threston was kin to the Lewknor family of Bodiam Castle and Twysden family (including Sir William Twysden, 1st Baronet.,) Most notably, Sir John Threston filed a lawsuit against William Benett, Henry Wolcott and John Cornysshe regarding a dispute over deeded pasture land in Chagford. Devon, England sometime between 1532-1538. Threston won and the case, which can be found in the United Kingdom National Archives.
It was during the reign of Henry VIII that the Protestant Reformation took place. The Threston family refused to convert and stayed Catholic. It was during this time that nobility titles were taken from the Threston family.
Sir John Threston died in October, 1558 in York, UK.
