Singavarapus are very renowned in combined Andhra Pradesh, Krishna, East & West Godavari Dists. in Particular. The Origin of the family is taken from 18th Century onwards. The name Deviah being heard frequently when we think or speak of Singavarapus. Pedda Deviah and Chinna Deviah were brothers and some of their children in the next generation were also named after Deviah, Deva, Devis and Dev. Both the brothers have chosen different areas for their lively hood. Most of the Pedda Devaih’s children came to Hyderabad and joined in Nizam state ARMY. After the disbandment of Nizam state ARMY they took up other jobs and finally settled in Hyderabad. Mr. MCLOUGHLIN, S/O late S.S.A John is from Pedda Devaih’s family. They were closely related to and associated with the then Bishop of Dornakel Rt Rev Late S. Vedanayakam Azaria. We begin with Trio brothers from Chinna Devaih’s family, late Sanjeevi, Sundaram, Sudarsanam. Late Sanjeevi was an elementary school teacher initially in CMS schools. As the days passed he developed great interest in Ayurveda system of medicines and acquired vast knowledge in Ayurveda medicines through his study of related books and practice. Being a self-made doctor in Ayurveda, he was very helpful in treating poor village patients and thus became a very influenced man in the society. Having been inspired and encouraged by Bishop Elliot, Late Sanjeevi dedicated himself for the Lord’s Service and was ordained as Priest. He used to give good sermons and had a Privilege to preach in St. Andrews Church which was a very rare opportunity even for the well-educated senior clergy. His brother Sundaram was not only a good teacher but also a lay Preacher. He was very soft-spoken but firm in taking decisions. Last Brother Doctor Late Dr. S. Deva Sudharshanam, Dist Veterinary Officer was a Gold Medalist. He held many positions in the district and earned a name as an upright officer. Hectic trails are on to collect more information before and after 18th century. Our forefathers used to live according to our scripture and traveled to all remote places by foot crossing rivers to spread the Gospel.
