Silveroak Legal or "SL" was founded by Owen Jones and is a Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands law firm with a unique business model. SL adopts a new paradigm by dispensing with the traditional billable hour, in almost all transactional matters, in favor of fixed fees and alternative billing solutions. The fee options offer clients and their advisors clarity, certainty, transparency and added value. The intention behind the business model is to bring client and firm collective interests into alignment. This is in contrast to the current methods of billing commonly used by offshore firms that focus on the billable hour. This method of billing is ideally suited to the product offered by law firms in international financial centers such as the Cayman Islands and the British Virgin Islands. SL is able to offer its services on this basis by adopting a new approach to the way in which the firm is managed. SL’s consultants are comprised of senior lawyers qualified to practice in the Cayman Islands and the British Virgin Islands (and other jurisdictions) most of whom have extensive experience in the City and/or with Wall Street firms.
