History
Chadwick Lawrence's history dates back almost 175 years. There have been many changes and developments in that time. A timeline of some of the key dates in its history is detailed below:
* 1836 - The firm was established by Benjamin Chadwick, on Church Street, Dewsbury. When his son, Samuel, qualified as a Solicitor, he joined the Firm, which was then known as Chadwick & Son.
* 1901 - Mr Nicholson joined the firm, and it was then known as Chadwick, Son & Nicholson until 1986
* 1915 - A partner of the firm, Mr Charles Stanley Wooldridge served in the Army during the First World War (1st Battalion, Devonshire Regiment), being awarded the Military Cross
* 1946 - Mr Matthews joined the firm as a partner, latterly being appointed the Assistant Secretary to the Law Society, and finished his career as Chief Taxing Master in the High Court
* 1974 - Relocated from the Church Street office to premises on Bradford Road, Dewsbury
* 1974 - Mr Oakes joined the firm, retiring as Senior Partner in 2009, having held posts during that time as Director of Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chairman and Director of West Yorkshire Enterprise Agency Ltd
* 1986 - Merger with West Yorkshire firm Lawrence, Son & Thorp saw the practicing name change to Chadwick Lawrence
* 1988 - Branch office opens in Halifax, and firm merges with West Yorkshire firm Dickinson & Wainwright
* 2005 - The firm becomes an LLP
* 2008 - Firm merges with Leeds and Wakefield firm, Lister Croft
* 2008 - Firm opens prestigious new offices just off J41 of M1
* 2008 - Jeremy Garside takes over the reins as Senior Partner

Chadwick Lawrence has a regional role as the West Yorkshire “hub” for the solicitor's network, . The scheme is a free referrals and support network for law firms across the UK. Smaller firms are encouraged to introduce work which is outside their specialist areas to a larger firm, known as a hub, in return for a host of benefits including a fee share and a written non-poaching agreement. Member firms also have access to a bulk purchasing group known as CostController which can reduce core overheads by about 20%. Connect2Law allows the smaller introducer firms to retain their clients by providing access to specialist lawyers. Chadwick Lawrence act as the hub for most of the major business hubs of Yorkshire - covering postcode areas BD, HX, LS, HG, WF and HD.
