An Animash is a mix of a piece of music (can be anything like rock, pop, sountracks, etc.) and animated movies that focuses on animals. The movies that are being used
The focus normally lies on Disney Movies, like the Lion King, The Fox and the Hound, Lady and the Tramp, Oliver and Company and others.
Also non-Disney animated movies are on the list, like How to train your dragon,Alpha and Omega, Balto and Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron.
The majority of the animash makers uses these kind of movies, but others are completely forgotten,
like An American Tail, Watership Down, Felidae, Over the Hedge and many others.
Anime is also rare, except for Wolf's Rain, which seems to be in at least 40% of all the animash videos.
Since 2011, there seems to be an upcoming use of My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic in the videos.
How Animash videos are occasionally created
Most users create their videos with Sony Vegas or Adobe After Effects. Beginners normally stick to Windows Movie Maker. Cyberlink Powerdirector and others are much rarer.
When someone decides to create an Animash, they normally start with the piece of music they want to use.
This can be a world-famous pop or rock song, but also a soundtrack and all other kinds of music.
After that, they start to imagine what their video should look like: what movies shall be used and how
effects are going to be applied are the regular questions Animash creators ask themselves.
After a while, the video slowly takes shape. Animash creators start at the first seconds of their video
and work there way up to the latest second. It is not commonly seen that they first create a piece in the
middle of the video, then start working on the beginning and then the end of the video.

Coprights issues
Animash videos are always violating copyright laws. However, there is not a single case of an video or a channel being banned on youtube because of this. TVTropes suggests that companies see AMVs as free publicity for their movies.
