Silke Engel (born 27 March 1972, Pinneberg, Germany) is a German Literature scientist and Political scientist, Journalist and Author. Personal life and education Silke Engel grew up in Pinneberg near Hamburg and passed her High school graduation at the Theodor-Heuss Gymnasium in 1991. From 1991 Silke Engel studied Political science, modern German studies, Literature and Public law at the University of Freiburg, graduating with a Master's degree. Silke Engel began her journalistic career at the public service Broadcaster, Sender Freies Berlin (SFB) in Berlin. Later she worked for the Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB) as an editor, author and presenter. From 2006 to 2008 she worked as Correspondent in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland based in London. This was followed in 2009 by a position as a German Federal Political Correspondent for the ARD in Berlin. As a political correspondent she also took part in the Political discourse in Germany. Career As early as 2002 she devoted herself to research in . In 2016, Silke Engel received her Doctor of Philosophy with her research work at the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg in Modern German Literature (Classical Moderne) about August Hermann Zeiz (1893-1964). The evaluation of the sources also found its way into intelligence research over the East Germany espionage (GDR) as part of the Federal Intelligence Service (BND) in West Germany in Pullach in the 1950s. Since 2015, she is the Departmental Director of Press and Public Relations and Spokesperson for the University of Potsdam. Silke Engel lived in Berlin-Charlottenburg since 1999.
