Silicon Valley Chess Club, either called Silicon Valley Chess or just simply SVCC, is an online non-profit chess club to raise chess awareness among children & adults via tournaments, courses, and other events related to chess. History Foster City Chess Silicon Valley Chess Club was founded in October 2019 as Foster City Chess (FCC) in Foster City, CA, USA by Venkat Acharya, with the sole aim of promoting chess awareness among children, when it was branded as a USCF Chess Club. FCC had its first puzzle contest in December 2019 and its first official tournament in February 2020. Covid-19 and the founding of Silicon Valley Chess Club On March 13, 2020 the Covid-19 Pandemic spread to such large numbers that almost every business, industry and marketplace, literally collapsed. Instead of falling into obscurity, FCC picked up the pieces due to the resourcefulness of the SVCC team. Due to a need of a feeling of a more global community, FCC transformed into its online avatar Silicon Valley Chess Club, founded by Venkat & Vinay Acharya. Ever since, SVCC has been inspiring children all across the planet!
