Sika Redem are a UK-based band, founded in Coventry, Warwickshire in 2003. Their sound has radically changed across two releases, and a wide range of musical labels are often used to describe their sound, including screamo, post-rock and metal. Their first release, 'No Gods No Masters' was released with Birmingham based label The Communion, which was followed up by the full-length 'Entheogen', released on Undergroove in May 2006. Lauded by Rock Sound Magazine as "the best band from Coventry since the Specials", Sika Redem are one of the Coventry's most promising bands, having toured all over the UK and playing shows with the likes of Johnny Truant, , Acid Mothers Temple, Red Sparowes, Million Dead, Shaped by Fate and many more. Their debut release received 4/5 stars in Kerrang Magazine , and is largely influenced by post metal bands such as and Neurosis. Their first full-length album was mixed and mastered in Umeå, Sweden, by Cult of Luna's Magnus Lindberg. 'Entheogen' marks a musical departure from their first EP, and the band demonstrated the first signs of creating something which can be called 'their own'. The band received some airtime on BBC Radio 1's Rock Show, where host Zane Lowe described 'Euglena', a short 1:38 burst of chaos as 'interesting'. Unfortunately, and largely because of the experimental nature of the band's sound, their work wasn't met by huge album sales, and this comment seemed to typify their musical appeal. The bands hypnotic live shows have become well known and respected throughout the UK music scene. The band has recently gone through some lineup changes. It is rumored that the band will be soon recording their second full-length album on Undergroove, with a tour to follow.
