Signode Industrial Group LLC is a global company manufacturing transit packaging solutions including, strapping, tools, software, equipment, warehouse automation and protective packaging products. As of October 2021, Signode generates $2B in revenue with 80 manufacturing facilities across 6 continents, employing 9,000 worldwide. They are currently headquartered in Glenview, IL but has recently announced plans to relocate their corporate headquarters to Tampa, FL by August of 2022. They were acquired by Crown Holdings, Inc, formerly Crown Cork & Seal Company, in early 2018 as part of their Transit Packaging Division. History In 1913 the Seal and Fastener Company was created by Chicagoan Elsworth E. Flora and J. Fremont Murphy. In 1916 the company was later renamed Signode. In the early 1940’s Signode transforms the packaging industry by developing automatic power strapping equipment, and by the 1962 they develop and begin selling consumable strap and tools. In 1986 Illinois Tool Works Inc. also known as ITW, acquires Signode and reorganizes them as Signode Packaging Systems.<ref name=":1" /> In 2014 ITW sells Signode to The Carlyle Group and they are renamed Signode Industrial Group.<ref name=":1" /> By April 2018, Crown Holding, Inc’s acquisition of Signode is finalized and transitions to Crown’s Transit Packaging Division.<ref name=":0" />
