Signetics 2513

The Signetics 2513 was one of the earliest Character generator ROM chips.
Design
The 2513 displayed characters in a 5×8 matrix, with 6 bits per character location providing up to 64 combinations in a character set. A Japanese katakana character set was also developed with the 2513N/CM4800 revision.
Uses
The 2513 was used in the Apple I and early versions of the Apple II, as well as Atari's earliest arcade games. Later revisions of the Apple II added a lower-case character set. It was also well-known among digital electronics hobbyists as the character generator in Don Lancaster's TV Typewriter.
