Ryu Watabe

Ryu Watabe is a Japanese-American actor.
Watabe worked with Rodney Greenblat in voice acting for the PaRappa the Rapper video-game projects providing the speaking and singing voice for the video game characters: Chop Chop Master Onion and Joe Chin. He also appeared in the spin-off of the PaRappa series, UmJammer Lammy reprising his role as Onion and also providing the voice of the mute bookworm, Ma-san. He also reprised his role in the anime series based on the PaRappa video games reprising his role as Master Onion making him the only actor to appear in all three video-games and anime, in which Greenblat had nothing to do with the animation or production of the series, despite drawing the character models for the characters: Paula and Matt, who are exclusively for the anime.
Watabe is fluent in Japanese and English which explains how his role of Onion was the perfect role as he spoke English in the video-games but Japanese in the anime because the series' dialogue is in the Japanese language.
Watabe also makes an appearance in Fantasy Factory as himself in the episode "Lights Out".
