Sigma Paints Middle East is a regional manufacturer of Paints and Coatings to the Middle East markets. With headquarters in Dammam, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sigma Paints Middle East operates in over 10 countries in the region. Sigma Paints is part of PPG Industries (NYSE: PPG).
Company History
Sigma Paints Middle East was founded in Dammam in 1981 by a consortium of eminent Saudi businessmen in cooperation with SigmaKalon. Sigmakalon was the second largest coatings manufacturer in Europe employing over 12,000 people across 50 countries with an annual turnover of US$2.8 billion. In January 2008, PPG Industries, a US based global supplier of coatings, chemicals, glass and fiber glass and equity affiliates and operating in more than 60 countries worldwide, acquired SigmaKalon and is in partnership with the Saudi businessmen.

Sigma Paints operates in 3 main segments. The first is Architectural Coatings, the second is Protective Coatings and the third is Marine Coatings.
The range of architectural coatings from Sigma Paints is specially developed to suit both the local environment and local tastes, and has been creating lasting impressions in the Middle East for nearly 30 years. Today, Sigma Paints has become a watchword for innovation, quality, value and durability.
Sigma Paints’ protective coatings concentrates on the development of high quality products which solve problems for customers and/or provide distinctive benefits. The comp[any also offers best-in-class products for: marine, infrastructure, chemical processing, power, oil and gas, offshore and rail industry segments. The protective coating range protects customer’s assets in some of the world’s most demanding conditions and environments.

Network
Sigma Paints has grown into a multi -cultural company with around 450 employees of over 25 different nationalities, working in countries such as Saudi Arabia, United Arabic Emirates (UAE), Yemen, Qatar Oman, Kuwait and Egypt. Sigma Paints owns and operates two production plants in Saudi Arabia producing solvent based and water based coatings. In addition, Sigma Paints also owns and operates one production facility in Egypt, which also produces solvent and water based coatings.
Retail Operations
Sigma Paints has a large network of mixed shops servicing both the end user and professional segments with over 200 shops.
Innovations
Sigma Paints is a leading innovator in its market, as it was the first one in the Middle East to launch the Sigma Service Centre, a one-stop -shop with a wide assortment of paints, products and accessories. The first shop opened in Dammam (Eastern Province Saudi Arabia) in April 2011 and the second one opened in Riyadh (Central Province Saudi Arabia) in May 2012. Further openings are planned for Jeddah (Western Province Saudi Arabia) as w ell as in other countries of the Middle East. It was also the first to introduce the Sigma Design Shop in Saudi Arabia, a unique design centre which focuses on the end user segment .

Inline with the global initiatives and with our duties towards the environment, Sigma Paints introduced the Sigmacryl Ecoplus product range, an unprecedented zero VOC paint system in 2010.The Sigmacryl Ecoplus product range carries the EU Eco-label, the ‘Flower’, which stands for a unique certification meeting the strictest environmental rules in Europe.
