Shubhangi Sakhalkar is an Indian classical singer. Early life and background After her early tutelage with Kunda Vaishampayan, Shubhangi spent several years learning from the renowned artistes Prabha Atre and Padma Talwalkar. Besides accompanying her guru in concerts, she has performed in several musical circles in cities in India including Mumbai and Pune. Shubhangi has developed a dynamic yet thoughtful vocal style that remains rooted in tradition while being uniquely her own. She holds a Masters degree in Hindustani Classical Music from the University of Bombay. Career Shubhangi moved to the USA in 1992. She has performed in Atlanta, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Phoenix, San Jose, and Los Angeles. Some of her more prestigious concerts include a SPICMACAY concert at University of California, Davis, a concert hosted by Lata Mangeshkar Foundation U.S.A., and Basant Bahar's first annual music festival where she was accompanied by Swapan Chowdhari on tabla. Shubhangi is recognized as one of the finest teachers in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is an inspiring mentor to many students.
