ShortScience.org, founded in 2017, is a project of the Institute for Reproducible Research (a 501(c)3 U.S. non-profit corporation). ShortScience.org is an open platform for publishing summaries of scientific papers. The platform claims "summaries contain the perspective and insight of other readers, why they liked or disliked it, and their attempt to demystify complicated sections". , the platform contains 1508 public summaries. This work discusses that existing summarization methods often produce abstract like summaries which are not ideal because they " are lacking other summarization constructs used by humans such as headlines and figures" which are present in the ShortScience.org dataset.
