Project Approach
Founded in 2008, this organization has developed three novel approaches (that it has incorporated into each of its three initiatives) toward addressing the most common issues associated with the institution of contemporary scientific research:
* To redress the rise in scholarly journal, and academic textbook, costs; they have created a research-based scientific curriculum that combines a multi-disciplinary approach with a non-linear format.
* To redress the lack of direct communication between academic researchers and laymen; they have created a discussion forum that allows individuals to pose questions that may then be addressed by their peers and experts alike.
* To redress the lack of transparency in academic research, as well as the decrease in funding provided toward basic research; they have created a platform that allows researchers to post project proposals in order to seek microfinancial investment from the general population. In exchange, researchers provide their microlenders (referred to as 'investors' by this organization), access to a research-log that they maintain throughout the duration of their experiment - affording these microlenders a direct window into the research process.
