Shelsmusic is a record label, based in Los Angeles, California, USA and Brighton, UK. History The label was formed by ex-Mahumodo vocalist Mehdi Safa in London, originally to release his own material, but has since grown into a much larger affair. First, several hand-made Mahumodo CDs were released. The packaging was very creative, often containing hand-pressed leaves and flowers and hand-etched jewel cases. Then Shelsmusic released their first distributed release, Mahumodo's Waves EP, which was distributed by Gut Records. When Mahumodo disbanded, Safa moved to Los Angeles and worked in the film industry whilst working on his new project, , with members of Fireapple Red and Eden Maine. The Wingsfortheirsmiles EP soon followed, and eventually the debut album Sea of the Dying Dhow in 2007. After the enthusiastic press interest from this release, Shelsmusic expanded by gaining a UK base for European press and mailorder, then released the debut CD from London based Latitudes and signed a number of other bands for releases in 2008.
