Sharad Sagar

Sharad Sagar is an India-born and Boston-based social entrepreneur. He is the Founder and CEO of Dexterity Global, a non-profit social enterprise incorporated in Massachusetts in USA, the Founder and President of We Aim High, a UNEP recognized non-profit youth body and the Co-Founder and Associate of Nirmaan Study Abroad programme, a low-cost talent support programme for students in the developing world. Sharad's mission is to create and support the next generation of entrepreneurs, innovators, changemakers and leaders, while they are still in school, through Dexterity's innovative projects. His impact projects encompass more than 150 slum kids, 100,000 school students and have an online and offline volunteer and support base in over 22 countries.
Sharad is one of the 100 most innovative entrepreneurs of the world listed by The Rockefeller Foundation as a Next Century Innovator. The list also features United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki Moon's innovation UN Global Pulse, the Creative Commons and the Ted Million Dollar Prize winner, Sugata Mitra among others. The Rockefeller Foundation states "Dexterity Global promotes active citizenship amongst high school students in India, encouraging students to think through social challenges and think of themselves as entrepreneurs."
In January 2010, Sharad was listed by Suman Saurabh, a national magazine, as one of India's changemakers with E Sreedharan, Pranav Mistry, Amitabh Bachchan and others. In January 2011, he was listed among top 50 changemakers of Bihar, India's most underdeveloped state, by Hindustan, India's largest circulated newspaper. He was the chairperson of the first Rio+20 simulation in India. He is frequently invited as guest of honour, chief guest and guest speaker at prestigious events.
Sharad is the recipient of the World Summit Youth Award for UN MDGs 2011. Sharad has served on the drafting committee of the South Asian Youth Declarations for COP 15 and 18 in Colombo and Dhaka, besides serving as the Regional Ambassador to the United Nations Environment Programme TUNZA eco-generation. His work and accomplishments have been featured in more than a dozen print and electronic media including Hindustan, Hindustan Times, The Telegraph, The Times of India, Aaj, Dainik Jagran, iNext, Sahara, Etv, Mahuaa, Hamaar TV, Doordarshan, Invision, Star News, Tufts Now, BostInno and Computer World.
