Shanka Samarasinghe is the drummer and co-lyricist of Paranoid Earthling, which is a pioneer rock band hailing from Kandy, Sri Lanka. Early life Born to Mr Chula Samarasinghe and Mrs Suri Samarasinghe on 18 June 1984, Shanka was exposed to music from his childhood. Coming from a family which had a musical background Shanka’s father would play Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd records at home. Shanka along with Mirshad Buckman started rehearsing together in an attempt to create a band and he inspired his brother Dhanushka Samarasinghe to join up with them to create Paranoid Earthling Musical Style and influence Shanka is a fan of the bands Tool, The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Smashing Pumpkins, Sound Garden, Mars Volta and Nirvana. Contribution towards Paranoid Earthling Shanka adorns the band with his unique style of drumming and composes melodies for the songs.
