History
CEO Hany Girgis founded SGIS from his garage in June 2002, shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Girgis pinpointed that there would be an upsurge in Defense, Intelligence and Homeland Security. Because of organizations and federal agencies requiring more services to keep up with the war on terrorism, budgets increased providing Girgis with an opportunity to build a company that focused on defending our nation's freedom. In turn, he turned the way of government contracting.
Girgis' partner, Vince Virga, President of SGIS, joined in early 2003. Virga helped Girgis start up SGIS based on a 14-year friendship with Girgis that dates back to their college days at the University of Central Florida and working together in management.
SGIS soon became an 8(a) certified, Small Disadvantaged Business. This gave SGIS numerous chances to bid on government contracting opportunities and increase its presence within the market.
Today, SGIS has over 850 employees and is currently generating approximately $85 million.
