Largest Flag in the World
Sedar Emirates manufactured the worlds largest flag and presented it to the United Arab Emirates on the 38th national day celebrations, as a token of gratitude and appreciation to the emirate of Sharjah. It is the national flag of the United Arab Emirates and measured up to 22813 meters (approximately 4 soccer fields), and has been officially certified by Ms. Andrea Banfi, the Guinness World Records representative, as the largest flag in the world. ( The flag is featured in GWR 2009 on page 286 and on GWR 2009 on pages 8 & 286)
The flag weighs 4,000 kg and required the effort of 448 men to open the flag. Initially, it took the men nine hours to unfurl the flag, but after months of extensive training the flag was unfurled in 2 minutes and 25 seconds. The fabrication of the flag took 145 tailors and assistant workers. The fabric was used from entirely SEDAR fabrics.
