Sebastian Behmann

Sebastian Behmann (born 7 October 1969, in Hannover, Germany) is a German architect and the long-time collaborator of Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson. Behmann heads the department of design at Studio Olafur Eliasson and is the co-founder of Studio Other Spaces, an office for architecture and art that Eliasson and Behmann established in 2014.
Education and career
Behmann studied architecture at TU Dresden.
Behmann began collaborating with Eliasson in 2001. Together, the two have designed numerous architectural works. These include pavilions, installations, international exhibitions, and Fjordenhus (2009-18) in Vejle, Denmark, the first major building designed entirely by the architectural team at Studio Olafur Eliasson.
Behmann was the responsible architect for the façade design (24) of the Harpa - Harpa - Reykjavik Concert Hall and Conference Centre (recipient of the 2013 Mies van der Rohe Award), whose shimmering glass façades were developed by Studio Olafur Eliasson in collaboration with Henning Larsen Architects.
Other architectural projects by Eliasson, for which Behmann was responsible, include Cirkelbroen (2015) in Copenhagen; Your rainbow panorama (2011), for ARoS Aarhus Kunstmuseum; Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2007 in London (with Kjetil Thorsen); and The blind pavilion (2003), the Danish Pavilion at the 50th Venice Biennale.
