Leo Van Broeck

Leo Van Broeck (born 23 August 1958 in Antwerp) is a co-founder of [http://www.bvbarchitects.com/# BOGDAN & VAN BROECK ARCHITECTS], a Brussels-based office for architecture, urbanism, service design and consultancy.
Leo holds a diploma in civil engineering and architecture from the University of Leuven, where he has subsequently taught architecture, urbanism, morphological engineering and building construction. He has actively participated in the promotion of architectural quality, playing a major role in the creation of sensitising organizations such as the Flemish Architecture Institute and the association [http://www.stadenarchitectuur.be/#/en/page City & Architecture] in Leuven.
The office's most notable realizations, commenced under VBMarchitecten, Leo Van Broeck's former office, include the on the C-Mine site in Genk and the De Mouterij conversion of a former brewery in Leuven into housing, both nominated for the Mies Van der Rohe Award 2011; and the RITS Film and Theatre School in Brussels, winner of the Ecobuild Arch School Client Award 2011.
Among the projects currently under construction, are the large mixed-use Kanaal Vervoordt R.E. project on the site of a former brewery and maltery in Antwerp, conceived in collaboration with Belgian architects Stephane Beel and , and the Bakala Research Centre for Sport and Movement in Leuven.
