Sean levitt orourke

Sean O'Rourke (Born 1955 died 2002) Was an American jazz guitarist.Considered by many of his peers to be one of the greatest unheralded jazz guitarists of the 20th century.
Sean began playing guitar around the age of 10.Sean was appreciated by many and he enjoyed a reputation as a young rock guitar prodigy.
Hanging around New York's rock scene and Fillmore East,New York's premiere rock venue, with his older brother George, a rock drummer,his talents were recognized as exceptional and he became friends and was tutored by many famous rock guitarists including,Jimmi Hendrix,Carlos Santana,Albert King,Johnny Winter and many other rock stars of that era who took Sean under their wings.
Sometime in 1968, while playing guitar in central park he was approached by Bernard Stolman a NY record producer.Sean told him his step father,Al Levitt,a famous jazz drummer & mother Stella Levitt,who toured briefly with the Stan Kenton orchestra, were both musicians themselves.Bernard then met the entire family and subsequently encouraged them record an album entitled "We are the Levitts".
Sean moved with his family to the Canary Island,Spain,in 1973.By now and accomplished Jazz guitarist,he busied himself in mastering the flamenco guitar.
Sean went on to work in the Spanish jazz scene in the Canary Islands and in Madrid.
Moving to France he became a local on the French jazz scene and played in his step fathers jazz group.
In the 80 and 90s Sean was primarily a jazz tutor in Barcelona at local music schools.

Sean passed away in his sleep in 2002 of a heart attack,he was 47.
