Sean Elo-Rivera

Sean Elo-Rivera is an American attorney and politician serving as a member of the San Diego City Council for the 9th district. Elected on November 3, 2020, he assumed office on December 10, 2020.
Early life and education
Elo-Rivera was raised in Orange County, California and graduated from Huntington Beach High School. He then attended Golden West College, where he competed on the water polo and swim teams. A first-generation college student, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in social science from Chapman University, where he also studied history, psychology, and sociology. After graduating, he taught English in Peru and South Korea and worked as a competitive swimming coach. Elo-Rivera relocated to San Diego and earned a Juris Doctor from the California Western School of Law.
Career
In 2019, Elo-River was elected to the San Diego Community College District Board of Trustees. He is also the executive director of San Diego Youth Will, a non-profit organization formerly known as the San Diego Youth Development Office. He has also worked as a field organizer and director for the California Democratic Party.
In the November 2020 election for San Diego City Council, Elo-Rivera defeated Kelvin Barrios. He assumed office on December 10, 2020.
