Chad Walsh is a patent attorney, a member of the West Valley College Board of Trustees, and a non-partisan candidate for California State Assembly in California's 28th Assembly District in 2012. Education After receiving his undergraduate degree from U.C. San Diego in 1991, Walsh pursued a master's degree at Santa Clara University. He received an M.S. in electrical engineering from Santa Clara in 1995 and graduated from the Santa Clara University School of Law in 1999. Professional career Walsh has occupied several positions during his career in the private sector. His first job out of college was as a research & development (R&D) engineer with the Silicon Valley-based company, National Semiconductor. After law school, Walsh worked as a patent attorney at several firms before co-founding the Fountainhead Law Group, where he currently practices patent and intellectual property law. He is also a lecturer at the Santa Clara University School of Law. West Valley College trustee In 2008, Walsh was elected to the West Valley College Board of Trustees. He was reelected in 2010. 2012 election Chad Walsh announced his candidacy for California State Assembly in 2011. If elected, he would be the only non-partisan member of the California legislature. His opponent is incumbent Democrat Paul Fong.
