Sean E. Brotherson is an assistant professor and Extension Family Life Specialist at North Dakota State University. He has studied family policy, marriage, the role of fathers and related topics. He is married to the former Kristen Walch and they are the parents of seven children. Their names are Ellen, Ethan, Mason, Bryn, London, Bronwyn, and Gwen. He holds bachelors & masters degrees from Brigham Young University and a PhD. from the Oregon State University. He's written the book Why Father Counts: The Importance of Fathers and their involvement with Children. He has also been a contributor to the BYU published journal Marriage and Families. He has served as co-director of the Dakota Fatherhood Initiative with Joseph M. White. He is also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and has served as a member of the high council in the Fargo North Dakota Stake among other callings.
