Sean Allen is a student at Overland High School in Aurora, Colorado, who recorded and then publicly released a February 1, 2006 lecture by his high school social science teacher, Jay Bennish. In the recorded lecture, the teacher compared the tones of President George W. Bush's January 31, 2006 State of the Union Address to the speeches of Adolf Hitler and presented arguments critical of capitalism. Allen made the recording using an iPod.
A few weeks later, Allen's father offered the recording to Denver radio station 850 KOA and to journalist Walter E. Williams, who referred to it in a submission to Townhall.com. Other blogs picked up the story, and eventually Fox News and major newspapers covered the story.
Since the initial release of the recording, Allen has made several appearances on the Hannity & Colmes show. On Sean Hannity's radio show, Hannity affectionately nicknamed Allen "Sean Jr." .
Following the public's attention to the lecture and Bennish's week-long paid suspension and ultimate return to the classroom, Allen stayed home from Overland and returned only to take the Colorado Achievement (CSAP) test in seclusion in a conference room. On March 16, 2006, Allen told the Rocky Mountain News he would transfer to nearby Cherry Creek High School .
Allen returned to Overland for the 2006-2007 school year, and is currently a senior there.
