Scott Hays

Scott Robert Hays (born March 2, 1959 in Whittier, California), is a freelance writer, author & co-author, Media Consultant, and community college instructor.
Biography
Hays was born in Whittier, California. He holds a Master’s Degree in English Literature from the University of California, Irvine, and a Master’s Degree in Communications from Cal State Fullerton, Fullerton, CA.
Hays has spent his entire adult life as either a freelance writer, author or co-author of books, and/or a media consultant for general consumer and business-to-business publications involving a broad range of experiences in editorial, marketing, and conference development. He also has contributed feature articles and cover stories for Men’s Health, TV Guide, The Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles Magazine, Vista Magazine, and Men’s Fitness, and, among many others. And he is the author or co-author of several non-fiction books for major publishing companies, including Warner Books, Gotham Books, Rodale, Barron’s Educational Books; and author of several children’s books in the non-fiction library market.
In 2008, Hays produced a Benefit CD for the homeless titled Shelter Me. All proceeds benefit Friendship Shelter, with programs in Laguna Beach and San Clemente, CA. View a 13-minute documentary about the making of Shelter Me

Between 2000-2004, Hays worked as an editorial consultant in the interactive media industry, with an emphasis on publishing and conferences. More recently, he has worked as a part-time college instructor at University of California, Irvine (extension); and Orange Coast, Saddleback, and Irvine Valley community colleges. He teaches Composition, Critical Thinking, Feature Writing, Freelance Writing, Writing for the Web, Literary Journalism, Mass Communications, and Newspaper Production. In 2007, he coordinated a Study Abroad
program for 30 students to Austria, Italy, and Germany.
