Peter Jedick is a Rocky River, Ohio author and freelance writer. He is the author of four books. His two non-fiction books are LEAGUE PARK and CLEVELAND: Where the East Coast Meets the Midwest. His two novels are HIPPIES and The West Tech Terrorist.
Jedick was born in Los Angeles, California in 1949 but his family moved back to their hometown of Cleveland, Ohio when he was a baby. In 1967 he graduated from Cleveland’s West Technical High School, one of the largest high schools in Ohio. Jedick’s high school experiences served as the basis of his most recent novel, The West Tech Terrorist.
Jedick attended Kent State University on an Ed Bang Journalism Scholarship. He was on Kent’s campus on May 4, 1970, the day four students were killed by the Ohio National Guard during an anti-Vietnam War protest. Jedick’s first novel, HIPPIES, was based on his Kent State experience.
As a freelance writer Jedick has written for the following Northeast Ohio publications: The Cleveland Press, The Plain Dealer, The Plain Dealer Sunday Magazine, Sun Newspapers, Cleveland Magazine and Avenues Magazine. Nationally he has written for Baseball America and World War II Magazine.
He has been a radio commentator on WKSU, a Northeast Ohio NPR station, and taught freelance writing at Kent State University and Cuyahoga Community College. He has also been a taxi cab driver, railroad track laborer, an ambulance driver and substitute high school teacher.
Jedick is married and has six children. He is a Lieutenant on the City of Cleveland’s Fire Department and is the past president of the Cleveland Fire Fighters Memorial Fund, the non-profit organization that created a memorial to honor the 76 Cleveland fire fighters that died in the line of duty.
