Scott Griggs

Scott Griggs (born May 13, 1991) is a professional baseball pitcher in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. The Dodgers selected him in the 8th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft.
Griggs attended San Ramon Valley High School in Danville, California, where he was a three-year varsity starter as a pitcher. He was an . Griggs attended UCLA in the fall of 2009. As a Junior he made 36 appearances, all in relief, and established UCLA's single-season saves record, recording 15 saves in 17 opportunities. He captured third-team All-America honors from the NCBWA and third team acclaim from Baseball America and Louisville Slugger/Collegiate Baseball, and earned All-Pac-12 Conference honors in addition to being name a first-team ABCA All-West Region selection. He went 3-1 with a 2.65 ERA, recording 64 strikeouts in 37.1 innings and limited the opposition to a .170 batting average (opponents only batted at .087 (4-for-46) with two outs). Griggs had a string of 13 consecutive scoreless appearances (14.0 innings) from March 18 through May 5. Griggs was selected in the eighth round of the 2012 MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Griggs made his professional debut with the Ogden Raptors of the Pioneer League on June 26, 2012. Griggs was promoted August 1, 2012 to the Great Lake Loons of the Midwest League for the balance of the season. Griggs ended the season with a 1-0 record, 5 saves, a 3.97 ERA, and an average of 12.7 SO/9 innings. After Spring Training In 2013 he was assigned to the Great Lake Loons. On July 7, 2013 he was named Pitcher of the Week for the Midwest League after not allowing an earned run in 18.2 consecutive innings. Griggs ended the season with a 2-7 record (all in relief), a 2.56 ERA in 45.2 innings of work, and an average of 14.6 SO/9 innings; Batters hit an average of .169 against him.<ref name=":0" /> On July 28, 2013, Great Lakes Loons placed Griggs on the 7-day disabled list.<ref name=":0" /> His injury was more severe then expected and Griggs spent all of 2014 rehabilitating from surgery to repair a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder. In 2015, Griggs attended Spring Training (but did not compete competitively) and 0n April 7, 2015 he was assigned to Extended Spring Training. On June 16, 2015, nearly two years after his last professional pitching outing, Griggs was assigned back to the Great Lake Loons where he amassed a record of 3-1 in relief and a 2.08 ERA; Batters hitting average was .202 against him.<ref name=":0" /> On September 2, 2015, Griggs was assigned to the Tulsa Drillers where he pitched in relief in one game just before the end of the season.<ref name=":0" /> Overall for 2015, Griggs ended the season with a 2.23 ERA and a 13.1 SO/9 inning ratio. Griggs reported to Spring Training in 2016, and was assigned March 10. 2016 to the Los Angeles Dodgers where he participated as a back-up reliever in big league games during Spring Training. April 4, 2016, Griggs was assigned to the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes to start the season.
