Major Satish Dahiya was a native of Mahendergarh, Haryana, who died on 14th February 2017 while leading an operation fighting terrorists in Handwara, Jammu and Kashmir, India, where three terrorists were killed. Personal life He completed his primary education from Banihari in Haryana and secondary education from Modi Nagar in Uttar Pradesh. He did his post graduation in English from Rajasthan University in Jaipur. He married Sujata Choudhary in 2011, and having a two-year-old daughter, Priya. He was cremated with full military honours on 15 February 2017 in Banhari village near Narnaul in Haryana. He had joined the Rashtriya Rifles in 2015 on deputation for two years. According to an Indian army spokesman he was a gallantry award winner and had been part of several counter terror operations. Death The day on which Major Satish Dahiya died, three other soldiers: Rifleman Ravi Kumar (native of Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir), Paratrooper Dharmender Kumar (native of Nainital in Uttarakhand) and Gunner Astosh Kumar (native of Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh, son of Havildar Lal Sahib who was killed during the Kargil war in 1999. Now survived only by his mother Shila Devi died in an encounter in which one militant was killed, in the Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir.<ref name="win"/>
