Sara and David is an Anime-style 3D webcomic, created by Alexander Aberle. It is set in the fictional city of Rose City, USA, and the storyline is currently in the year 2003. Sara and David started on June 10, 2002 with the Issue "David's Walk", which is the last issue. No further issues have been produced, but the author made it clear that he was not ending the comic. The website went down in early 2010, removing access to most of the comics from the internet. A blank website came back on June 10th, 2011, simply saying "Happy 9th Birthday". On November 28th, 2011, it was announced that on December 1st, 2011, an "Advent Restoration" would take place. Every day from December 1st to December 24th, several of the old comics would be restored to the Sara and David website. On December 25th, 2011, a new issue is scheduled to be released, followed by a normal Monday & Friday release cycle. Style and Creation Sara and David is heavily influenced by the Anime style. The comic is created with Lightwave 3D, using D-Creation's unReal Cel Shader. Variations of reality (dreams, other-worldly experiences, video-games) are done without cel-shading. Stylistic changes There has been a few style changes since Sara and David inception in 2002. * Issue 0088: Hair specularity changed from a standard-type specularity to more of a "band" across the head. * Issue 0137: The eyes were changed to a new style. Hair was given a "texture" to break up the monotony of single color hair. Animated Issues Occasionally, an animated issue of Sara and David is released. There are currently only three animated issues: * Issue 0065: Good-Bye..., Published on February 14th, 2003. Before the era of Flash Video, this issue achieved animation by scaling and replacing images. Music used: Hikari/Simple and Clean by Hikaru Utada from Kingdom Hearts. * Issue 0125: Fight for the Fate of the Earth, Published on October 27th, 2003. This issue attempted to make the comic interactive, allowing readers to choose when to switch to the next dialog panel. Music used: Mona Lisa Overdrive by Juno Reactor & Don Davis. * Issue 0170: Download, Published on July 7th, 2006. This was the first issue to use Flash Video, instead of the previous method. This issue is generally considered to be the worst of the animated issues.
