Sanjay Purohit is an Indian entrepreneur and renowned business restructuring professional. He led several corporations in India and the United States before forming iProf Learning Solutions, one of India's leading e-learning companies. Sanjay has been a guest speaker at premier business schools across the world including Harvard Business School and Kenan-Flagler Business School, where his work in business transformation is a reference case study. He was CEO of Resonance Eduventures Limited. iProf launched India's first tablet device solutions for e-learning in 2009, and is backed by Norwest Venture Partners, IDG Ventures and global education research and technology company Hobsons (a subsidiary of the Daily Mail and General Trust). It tied with education firms such as Kaplan, McGraw-Hill Education and Indira Gandhi National Open University to become a nationally recognized education brand. Early life and education Sanjay is an MBA Gold Medalist from Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and holds a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. His first job was as an Indian Administrative Service officer which gave him exposure to the prevailing education system in small towns across India. He left IAS to attend business school at IIMA. After business school, he worked as a senior executive with AT&T Mobility and Motorola as a part of the team which introduced cell phones to India. Sanjay moved to the United States in 1999. Career Prior to starting IProf India, Sanjay was a managing director with Loughlin Meghji, a New York-based business restructuring firm, which bailed out bankrupt companies in the United States. Sanjay oversaw restructuring at organizations including Silicon Graphics and Great Wide. Before Loughlin Meghji, Sanjay was the CEO of Dan River, a $600 million textile company, based in Danville, Virginia. Dan River's transformation under Sanjay was featured in several business periodicals and is a University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill case study. In addition to Dan River, Sanjay has been the CEO of business process outsourcing companies such as Albany, New York based Colwell and Salmon, the Dalmia Group's Caretel and manufacturing firm Best and Baker. He was also part of the founding team at the IT BPO start-up, Epicenter Technologies. He was the CEO of Resonance Eduventures Ltd. Personal life Sanjay Purohit is an Indian Brahmin from the Rajpurohit subgroup. He is involved in welfare work with Sankara Nethralaya and World Vision International. In a Hindustan Times interview, Purohit said Steve Jobs inspires him because of Jobs' "ability to use technology to change lives for the better. " His favorite Books are The Bhagavad Gita, The Innovator's Dilemma and Future Shock.
