San Jose BMW Motorcycles San Jose BMW Motorcycles is one of the oldest BMW motorcycle dealerships in the USA, located in San Jose, California. San Jose BMW Motorcycles was established in 1974 and still resides in the same location, formerly the San Jose post office at 1886 W. San Carlos Street. SJ BMW has been a significant participant in racing BMW Motorcycles since the mid-1970's and are one of the most successful privateer BMW racing teams in America. They are one of the largest BMW dealers in the Bay Area,they also rent BMW motorcycles and offer a complete range of BMW apperal. San Jose BMW forged its early reputation as a performance shop by preparing and tuning race-winning BMW airhead models, including the ex-Butler & Smith modified BMW R90S which Harry Klinzmann rode to BMW's last AMA National Superbike victory at Loudon, NH in 1978. At this time, current owner, Chris Hodgson was working as service manager at the dealership and the head of the racing program. Chris Hodgson eventually purchased the San Jose BMW dealership in 1992. He has continued to develop and campaign BMW-based racing bikes in many categories. After six months and seven race meetings of the series, the American BMW rider secured the title against a grid of race-tuned Ducatis at the very last round of the 2008 championship. <references/>
