Samuel Purdey

Samuel Purdey were a British jazz-rock group from Brighton and London, England. The band's core members were Barney Hurley and Gavin Dodds.
History
Prior to Samuel Purdey, Barney Hurley toured occasionally as a drummer with Jamiroquai and Mother Earth. He also worked as a session musician for the Acid Jazz label. Gavin Dodds was formerly the guitarist with Jamiroquai and subsequently a member of Spacemonkeyz. The band's first commercial recording (a cover of the Tower Of Power song 'Clever Girl') appeared on the Acid Jazz compilation 'Totally Wired 11' in 1993. They were subsequently signed to the Sony backed Good Sounds label, during which time they recorded their debut album 'Musically Adrift'. The Japanese label Grey Dog's Records are releasing a 'remastered' version of Musically Adrift in January 2009.
