Sameer Gadhia (born on July 10, 1989) is a first-generation, American-Indian musician, best known for as the lead singer and front man for the rock band, Young the Giant. Gadhia has also been acknowledged with “one of the great contemporary rock voices” according to The New York Times. Early life Sameer Gadhia was born on July 10, 1989 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. His mother and father immigrated from Ahmadabad, India to America in the 1980’s and attended grad school in Ann Arbor. Both of his parents come from musical backgrounds. His mother was a singer and his father’s mom was a classical Indian music singer. When Gadhia was seven, his father found a job in California which caused Gadhia and his family to move to Irvine, a suburb in California. In the podcast Lipps Service hosted by Scott Lipps, Gadhia mentions that music like Bollywood and other popular banks like Pink Floyd and The Beatles was always playing around his home. Personal life Gadhia graduated in 2007 from Irvine high school in Irvine, California. He met the current members of the band Young the Giant; Francois Comtois (drummer), Payam Doostzadeh (bassist), Jacob Tilley (guitarist), and Eric Cannata (guitarist), in Irvine, California. Gadhia studied Human biology at Stanford University with involvement in the Stanford Talisman and a part of Sigma Nu but decided to drop out and pursue music. Gadhia’s writing has also been published in the Rolling Stone magazine in 2021. Career Gadhia is widely known as the front man of the alternative rock band Young the Giant. Since their debut in 2010 where they released three singles, “My Body”, “Cough Syrup”, and “Apartment” that all charted on the US Alternative rock chart, they have released many albums including “Young the Giant” and “American Bollywood”. Point of Origin podcast Gadhia hosts his podcast called “Point of Origin’”, that runs on SirusXM’s Alt Nation. Before becoming an podcast in 2024, Point of Origin was a radio show in 2020, also ran on SirusXM’s Alt Nation. The podcast is divided into sessions, and each session, Gadhia’s goal is to highlight “voices of color”. The first guest on Gadhia’s official podcast was Brittany Howard, a former singer of Alabama Shakes. Other known alternative rock artists like Bakar and Last Dinosaurs have made an appearance as well. <references />
