Sam Sather

Sam Sather (born February 27, 2003) is an American football offensive lineman for the Dakota State Trojans.
Early life
Sather spent his first two years of high school at Roncalli High School in Aberdeen, South Dakota, where he played both offensive and defensive line for the Cavaliers football team. During the 2017 season, Sather played in five games, recording 12 total tackles and 2.5 sacks. During the 2018 season, he played in 10 games, recording 37 total tackles and 1.5 sacks. Sather also competed for the school's track and field team, participating in the shot put and discus events. During both years he participated in the SDHSAA Class A State Track and Field meet. During his freshman season he placed 10th, then during his sophomore season he placed 5th with a throw of 48'8.5".
Before his junior year of high school, Sather's father Paul Sather accepted the head men's basketball coach job at the University of North Dakota. Sam Sather subsequently enrolled at Red River High School in Grand Forks, North Dakota. During his senior year, he received NDHSAA Class AAA Second Team All-State honors for football. While at Red River, Sather also competed on their track and field team. He made his third state track meet and place 15th at the NDHSAA State A Track & Field Meet with a throw of 46'5". His PR for the season would be 49'6".
College career
Northern State
On December 21, 2020, Sather announced his commitment to Northern State for both football and track and field. He redshirted during the 2021 season, then appeared in two games during the 2022 season, and one game during the 2023 season. Sather also competed for the Northern State track and field team, competing in the shot put, weight throw, and hammer throw during the 2021-22 season.
Dakota State
On November 23, 2023, Sather announced that he would be transferring to Dakota State University and would play for the Trojans football team.
Personal life
Sather's father, Paul Sather, is the head men's basketball coach for the North Dakota Fighting Hawks men's basketball team.
