Sam Amico

Sam Amico (born February 22, 1968) is an American sportswriter and broadcast analyst who covers pro basketball for Fox Sports and NBA.com. In October 2010, Amico joined the staff of FoxSportsOhio.com, making him the first Cleveland media personality to leave the SportsTime Ohio network for FSO, which owns the broadcast rights to Cleveland Cavaliers games. He writes two NBA columns a week (entitled "Double Dribbles") for Fox, along with providing other NBA-related content and weekly vodcasts. Amico's pro basketball coverage has also appeared on CBSSports.com, NBCSports.com, USAToday.com, HoopsHype.com, InsideHoops.com, Hoopsworld.com, and in the Boston Herald and Chinese edition of Inside Stuff magazine.
Amico founded and designed ProBasketballNews.com in 2005, and the site quickly drew a wide audience and turned him into one of the most respected voices in pro basketball. Actor and comedian Wayne Federman ("Curb Your Enthusiasm") and former NBA coach Eric Musselman both claim to be among Amico's most loyal readers, with each having written columns for ProBasketballNews. Amico turned the site over to assistant editor Tony Mejia in September 2009, deciding to focus on his work with NBA.com and freelance career. He still occasionally writes for the site.
Amico also once co-hosted a weekly Cavs show on STO (along with Cleveland sportscaster ). He has also appeared on NBATV, and is a frequent guest on radio stations throughout the United States and Canada. That includes frequent stops on both the Cavaliers' and Portland Trail Blazers' radio networks.
He also writes a regular blog for the Phoenix Suns' website.
He has conducted one-on-one interviews with some of the game's greats, many of which came during his time as a contributor to the NBA Retired Players' Association website. The list of Amico's exclusive interviews includes Larry Bird, Scottie Pippen, Jerry West, Spencer Haywood, Rick Barry, Artis Gilmore, John Starks and a host of other current All-Stars and legends.
Amico's articles and takes on pro basketball have been linked to and quoted by everyone from ESPN to Sports Illustrated to AOL Fanhouse to The Associated Press.
He is a native of Akron, Ohio, and much of his writing is based on information he compiles while covering the Cavaliers at Quicken Loans Arena. He lives in Copley Township, Ohio, less than a mile from the home owned by the Miami Heat's LeBron James.
