Ryan Oertel

Ryan Oertel (born July 4, 1982) is an American athlete who won the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) championships in the high jump.
Background
Oertel is 6 ft 1 in tall and at the time of last competition weighed 155 lb. He is originally from Eveleth Minnesota and graduated from Eveleth-Gilbert Senior High School in 2000. Oertel attended University of Minnesota - Duluth and graduated from St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota as a marketing major; he is currently attending graduate school at Capella University for a MBA in marketing. According to references, Oertel turned down opportunities at University of Minnesota, University of Wisconsin - Madison, Arizona State University, and Northwestern University.

* 1999 Placed 1st at Minnesota State High School League jumped 6 ft 7.5 in.

* 2001 Placed 3rd - NSIC Outdoors jumped 6 ft 8.5 in.
* 2002 A stress fracture in his foot stopped him from competing.
* 2003 Placed 13th - NCAA Outdoors; 2nd for NSIC Outdoors jumped 6 ft 9.25 in.
* 2004 Placed 8th - NCAA Outdoors; 2nd for NSIC Outdoors jumped 6 ft 10.75 in.
* 2005 Placed 3rd - NCAA Outdoors; 1st for NSIC Outdoors jumped 7 ft .25 in.
