Noel Gillespie (born December 17, 1977) is an American professional basketball scout, currently an assistant coach for the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Early life Gillespie was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on December 17, 1977. Gillespie played prep basketball, as a forward, at Dominican High School. Gillespie attended college at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (The Warhawks), a Division III school. Scouting Career His career started in 2001, when he assisted the video, scouting, and coaching staffs for the Indiana Pacers. A year later, he decided to work as a graduate assistant at Florida State University. In 2003, he was hired for the Phoenix Suns as an "advance scout". This meant that he was the video coordinator for the team and had to prepare scouting reports on upcoming opponents. In 2010, Alvin Gentry promoted him from just being an advance scout to a combo advance scout and assistant coach. At the time, it filled out the four necessary positions the Suns needed for assistant head coaching duties.
