Ruth Pineda

Ruth Pineda (also known as Ruthless) is a tattoo artist and television personality. She is a featured tattoo artist on the hit reality television show LA Ink, working for American Electric, the rival shop to High Voltage Tattoo shop.
Early life
Ruth Pineda was born in Los Angeles, California on March 25, 1985. She is of Filipino and predominately Pacific Islander descent, and is the youngest of three siblings. While growing up in Eagle Rock, Pineda was a highly active child, competing in both Track & Field and Basketball. In this time she developed a strong work ethic by enrolling in Police Training and Leadership boot camps, where she excelled greatly. Graduating as Class Leader and Sergeant-1, Ruth quickly rose in rank to Sergeant-2 Drill Instructor where she trained new cadets while continuing to progress in boot camps. During this time, Ruth pursued singing, performing, and involving herself in the arts, musically, theatrically, and through her drawing and painting, something she continues to do to this day.
Tattoo career
Having always been involved with art, the natural progression to tattooing was something that started when she met the artist known to the tattoo world as Tattoo Joe, a highly skilled artist who resides in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She was intrigued with the tattoo world and, deciding that this was a path she wanted to pursue, she packed her bags and moved to Bridgeport to begin an official apprenticeship with Joe at his shop, Physical Graffiti. It was there where she learned the basics of tattooing and its rich history, and she quickly excelled and eventually began tattooing.
Since then Ruth has moved back to Los Angeles and has gradually gained a name tattooing in local shops and working with recognized artists such as Rick Walters, Baba, Tennessee Dave, Madison Stone, and more. She can tackle any tattoo with her own unique vision and create amazing permanent art. Being born of Filipino and predominately Pacific Islander descent, Ruth is drawn to the eastern arts, which is shown in her tattooing style, however, she tattoos all different styles.
LA Ink
While visiting a remote island off of Honduras, her manager, Danny Casler, received a possible opportunity from the producers of LA Ink to have Ruthless become the young starlet of the show. After four months of waiting, she received a call from the producers, while guest tattooing at Sacred Art Tattoo in Oahu, Hawaii. They did a video chat over Skype confirming she would indeed be on the show, and that she needed to hop on a plane back to LA immediately. Shortly after she signed her contract with the hit TV show LA Ink where she works out of American Electric on the show. Ruthless started off her new role having a confrontation with coworker Amy Nicoletto. The feud started when Amy came back from a short vacation and was walking to the rear of the shop and was approached by Ruthless and told she must stay in front of the counter and is not permitted in the rear of the shop. Amy informed Ruthless that indeed, she was an employee of the shop. The feud between Ruthless and Amy is ongoing and growing.
