Rustic Pathways is a travel company providing international community service, education and adventure programs for students and educators around the world. Rustic Pathways offers more than 100 programs across 21 countries to high school and college students via Spring Break, College, Critical Issues and Gap Year programs. Rustic Pathways student travel programs focus on adventure, community service, life skills or language skills.
Rustic Pathways has offices in Cleveland, Ohio, San Francisco, California, Melbourne, Australia, San Jose, Costa Rica and Chiang Mai, Thailand.
The company has 550 full-time and seasonal employees.
History
Rustic Pathways was founded in 1983 with an organized trip to the Outback in Australia and now has travel programs in 21 countries around the world. In 2005, Rustic Pathways reported application growth of 50 percent per year.
In March 2016, Rustic Pathways partnered with the education division of career exploration company Roadtrip Nation to create Rustic Roadtrips, a program focused on exploring career options in fields such as business, politics, education, science and the arts in the United States, Australia, India and Southeast Asia.
In 2016, Rustic Pathways announced a partnership with Thrival Academies to create a network of public high schools throughout the U.S. that offer study abroad opportunities as part of their curriculum.
Leadership
Chris Stakich serves as the chief executive officer and chairman of the board of Rustic Pathways. Jessemin Sheyda-Losick serves as the President of Rustic Pathways and the founder of the Rustic Pathways Foundation.
Philanthropy
The Rustic Pathways Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization that support communities in their efforts to implement locally driven, sustainable solutions to development challenges and enables students and alumni to support communities around the world through fundraising and direct donations. The Rustic Pathways Foundation provided financial support to help establish the Nasivikoso Village School Project in the island of Viti Levu in Fiji.
