Rudy Laskowski

Rudolph John "Roots" Laskowski (March 25, 1915 in Chicago, Illinois, USA - June 8, 1993) was a longtime minor league baseball player and manager.
He spent 17 seasons playing in the minor leagues, from 1932 to 1940, from 1946 to 1948 and from 1950 to 1954. In 1,422 games, he hit .284 with 227 doubles, 24 triples and 59 home runs. Perhaps his best season was in 1937 with the Tyler Trojans. That year, he hit .307 with 14 home runs, 165 hits and 33 doubles - the first three of which were career highs.
He first managed in 1938, skippering the Panama City Pelicans. In 1947, he managed the Pensacola Fliers for part of the year, leading them to the league playoffs, which they lost. He skippered the West Palm Beach Indians in 1948 and from 1950 to 1951, never managing a full season with them - he was always either replaced or he replaced an incumbent manager. In 1952 and 1953, Laskowski managed the Keokuk Kernels. In 1954, he managed the St. Petersburg Saints and from 1955 to 1956 he managed the Oklahoma City Indians.
