RTInation is an online system which facilitates the filing of RTI applications online. It primarily aims at minimizing time taken and effort required in filing an application. Launched on the 15th of August, on the eve of India's Independence, it is an effort at making the RTI more accessible to the common man. Significance By being the 1st online system to enable filing RTI applications online, the portal believes in changing India, one application at a time. Process of application Registration on the website is essential. The application is then filled out. After it has been reviewed, it is mailed again to enable the applicant to sign it. RTInation delivers the applications to the designated Public Information Officer. It charges Rs. 150 as fees for the procedure. Payment can be made through credit card/debit card/net banking. Typically a PIO needs to reply within 30-40 days of receiving an application. Assistance is also provided for submitting further appeals. Ancillary features The portal also provides information about the Right To Information Act, 2005, it hosts a forum to discuss issues of common interest, directions on drafting a good application. It stocks sample applications, success stories of applications filed so far and several FAQ's. Recognition *RTInation has been conferred the Karmaveer Puraskaar, for social justice and civil action, for the year 2010-2011. *The portal was given a testimonial by the Ex-Chief Information Commissioner of Government of India himself, Wajahat Habibullah. *It was also lauded at the Unreasonable Institute where entrepreneurs from over 60 countries vied for the 25 slots available to attend the 2011 Unreasonable Institute.
